AIM Media Release

The new Learning and Development Centre for the Australian Institute of Management Western Australia (AIMWA) is registered for a green star rating and will be targetting a six star green star rating.
AIMWA’s Executive Director Patrick Cullen says the Institute is thrilled to be setting new standards in Australia for the design of environmentally significant educational buildings.
“This is a project that we have been working towards for some time,” Mr Cullen said.
“The building recognises two issues that are absolutely critical to this state’s future – addressing the skills shortage by ensuring we can meet the growing need for training and education, and ensuring that we manage our environment and resources in a sustainable, sensible manner.
Work has started at the Institute’s Floreat site on the new 1400m2, two storey building, which will take 14 months to complete.
“This new development is a positive investment for the future, and will significantly increase the capacity of AIMWA, as the State’s leading private, not-for-profit training provider, to meet the skills needs in WA, and Australia more broadly,” Mr Cullen said.
“It will support the expansion of existing learning and development programs and the further expansion of a suite of programs aimed at developing sustainability and environmental skills and knowledge within WA.”
“In turn this will strengthen the Institute’s focus on building the future capacity of managers, leaders and organisations.”
A six star green rated building is a world class environmentally sustainable building in both design and building. It has a particular focus on water recycling and the use of photovoltaic cells as a significant source of power generation.
